As students were sent home for virtual learning at the start of the pandemic, another integral part of today’s learning environment paused as well: the school-to-prison pipeline. This disciplinary approach, which disproportionally affects Black and Latinx students and students with disabilities and schools serving impoverished communities, is designed to funnel adolescents out of schools and into juvenile and adult legal systems.
